Gemini 4 Argon: What It Can Do & How to Use It

Quick answer: Gemini 4 Argon is Google's newest and most capable AI model, released widely on 13 October 2026. It is built for long, complex work such as analysing reports, building slide decks and writing code, and it can keep working on tasks while you are away. It is not free: you get it in the Gemini app with Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra. In India, AI Pro is listed at ₹1,950 a month.
Google first introduced Gemini 4 Argon on 30 September 2026, then opened it up on 13 October. Since then, people have been searching for the same things: what it can actually do, whether it is free, and how to use it in India.
This guide answers all of that in simple English, using Google's own announcements. You will also find five prompts to try and a quick comparison with OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra.
What is Gemini 4 Argon?
Gemini 4 Argon is the latest model behind Google's Gemini assistant. Google calls it its "frontier model", meaning the most advanced one it offers. "Gemini 4" is the generation, and "Argon" is the name of this model.
You can use it in three places:
- The Gemini app, on the web, Android and iPhone, for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers
- AI Mode in Google Search, for the same subscribers
- The Gemini API, for developers and businesses building their own tools
What's new in Gemini 4 Argon
Here is what Google highlights, explained simply:
- Better reasoning on hard problems. Google says Argon "works longer and harder" on complex tasks, and gives more direct answers with less hedging and repetition.
- Long, multi-step tasks. Instead of one answer at a time, Gemini can work through a bigger job, and it shares progress more often while it works.
- Tasks that keep running. A toggle in the chat window switches from chat to tasks. Google says Gemini can keep working on a task when you are away from your computer, across your Google apps.
- More connected apps. Gemini now connects to more than 40 apps. Google's examples include Instacart, OpenTable, Adobe and Shopify.
- Stronger coding. Google reports large coding improvements, and Google AI Ultra subscribers get Argon in Antigravity, Google's coding tool.
- Better understanding of images and documents. Google highlights deeper visual perception and document understanding.
- Better writing. Google says Argon follows style instructions better than earlier Gemini models.
For developers, Google also lists a 1-million-token combined input and output limit in the Gemini API, which means very long documents and very long answers.
Is Gemini 4 free? Who can use it
No. At launch, Gemini 4 Argon is part of Google's paid plans. Here is what each plan includes, using Google's India prices:
| Google plan | Price in India (per month) | Gemini 4 Argon? |
|---|---|---|
| Free | ₹0 | No. Uses a lighter Gemini model |
| Google AI Plus | ₹399 | No. Uses a faster, lighter model |
| Google AI Pro | ₹1,950 | Yes, with higher access |
| Google AI Ultra | ₹6,500 or ₹19,500 | Yes, with the highest access, plus Argon in Antigravity |
Prices are as listed on Google's Gemini plans page for India in October 2026. Plans change often, so check the official page before you pay.
Jio users: in October 2025, Jio and Google launched an offer of 18 months of Google AI Pro for eligible Jio 5G customers. If you already claimed it, you may already have access, so check your plan in the Gemini app. If you have not, look for the offer in the MyJio app, as eligibility and availability can change.
How to use Gemini 4 Argon
- Get Google AI Pro or Ultra on your Google account, or check that your current plan includes it.
- Open the Gemini app on the web, Android or iPhone, and sign in with that account.
- Ask as normal for quick questions. Use chat for everyday help.
- Switch from chat to tasks for bigger jobs using the toggle in the chat window, then describe the outcome you want.
- Connect your apps if you want Gemini to work with them, and review what it does before anything is sent or shared.
You can also use Argon in AI Mode in Google Search with the same plans.
5 things to try with Gemini 4 Argon
These prompts follow a simple pattern: give the goal, the context and the format you want. Adapt the details to your own work.
1. Turn a report into a slide deck
Read the report I've attached. Create a 7-slide deck for senior managers: one title slide, five slides on the key findings, and one slide on the decisions we need to make. Keep each slide to 3 short bullet points.
2. Run a longer task while you work on something else
Plan a one-day workshop on AI tools for a team of 15 in Bengaluru. Draft the agenda, a short invitation email and a checklist of what to prepare. Show me everything to review before you send or share anything.
3. Research a decision with sources
Compare three CRM tools for a small business in India with 10 sales staff. Give me a table of price, key features and drawbacks, then recommend one. List your sources so I can check them.
4. Build a small tool without coding
Build a simple web page that calculates EMI for a loan. I enter the loan amount, interest rate and tenure in months, and it shows the monthly EMI and total interest. Explain how to open and use it.
5. Understand a document or image
I've attached a photo of a handwritten meeting whiteboard. Turn it into clean notes with headings, list every action item with its owner, and mark anything you could not read clearly.
Always check the result. A more capable model can still be confidently wrong, especially with numbers, names and dates.
Gemini 4 Argon vs GPT-6 Astra
Gemini 4 Argon arrives a few weeks after OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra. Here is a simple side-by-side:
| Feature | Gemini 4 Argon | GPT-6 Astra |
|---|---|---|
| Made by | OpenAI | |
| Wide release | 13 October 2026 | 3 September 2026 |
| Where you use it | Gemini app and AI Mode in Search (Google AI Pro and Ultra) | ChatGPT paid plans |
| Lowest-priced plan with access in India | Google AI Pro, ₹1,950 a month | ChatGPT Plus, ₹1,999 a month |
| Reported coding score (DeepSWE v1.1) | 77.9%, as reported by Google | 74.1%, as reported by OpenAI |
| Best fit | People who work in Google apps | People who already work in ChatGPT |
Each company runs its own tests, so treat benchmark numbers as a rough guide. The tool that fits your daily work matters more. For the full picture, read Gemini vs ChatGPT: which AI is better? and what GPT-6 Astra can do.
Should you upgrade?
- Upgrade if you do complex work every day, such as long reports, analysis, coding or research, and you already use Google apps.
- Wait if you mostly use AI for quick questions and short drafts. The free plan still covers a lot.
- Try before you commit: test your real tasks for a few weeks, and keep the plan only if it clearly saves you time.
Use it safely
- Review before anything is sent. Tasks and connected apps can act for you, so check drafts, emails and bookings first.
- Protect private data. Do not share passwords, ID numbers or confidential company files unless your company allows it.
- Check facts. Verify numbers, quotes and dates before you rely on them.
